GREENandSAVE is a Philadelphia-area based company, and has a website that is one of America’s leading free ‘Green’ home remodeling resources for anyone that wants to save money and the environment as well as create a healthier home and overall lifestyle.

The GREENandSAVE team continues to research the data from a broad range of public and private sector reports as well as manufacturer specifications and actual user feedback. Major online resources and the 150 year old institution, the American Institute of Architects, link into GREENandSAVE.com to educate their members, and The National Association of Realtors uses the content in the curriculum to educate their agents. Clear Channel Radio's Great Green Home Show also picked GREENandSAVE.com as "The BEST user-friendly site for Homeowners." The company is the first to offer comprehensive Return on Investment (ROI) ranking and Take Action recommendations on multiple ways to ‘Go Green’.

Sustainability Narrative

40% of the nation’s heating costs come from homes and offices, so before we even switch to alternative fuel sources, there are great avenues for saving energy in the home or office, and, consequently, saving money on your utility bills.

It can be tricky to figure out what the best methods are for limiting your carbon footprint, so GREENandSAVE has attempted to make your decisions easier for you. With their Master Return on Investments table, GREENandSAVE does all the legwork for you, and breaks down their calculations to show which home or office renovation projects will bear the most fruit in the shortest amount of time. Their ROI table contains projects whose paybacks come in just a few months, as well as larger-scale renovations, like solar panels for the roof, or low-flush toilets, that will take years to pay for themselves. No matter how big or small your budget for Home Remodeling, we have some suggestions that will loosen your fiscal belt, and allow you to continue to save for the foreseeable future.

In addition to the ROI table, GREENandSAVE has forged a strategic partnership with Philly.com to provide 60 percent or more of the content to their new Green channel which Mr. Szoradi spearheaded over the summer of 2008. The relationship extends at a minimum through 2011, and as Philly.com receives over 40 million page views, GREENandSAVE is able to get out their message of Eco-Sustainability in articles whose topics range from Fashion and Gifts to Home Remodeling Tips.

However, this is not where GREENandSAVE’s outreach ends. Mr. Szoradi and his team authored the education curriculum that is currently used by schools such as St. Norbert’s in Paoli for the Pilot program. The intent of the curriculum is to develop fun ways for students to learn math and science through eco-insights and take home projects that engage their parents. One of the results of these curriculums is the ‘Family Guide to Going Green’, which is currently distributed as a free resource by Real Estate Agents to their past and perspective clients. Other organizations and associations are also using the Green Guide as a free resource for their members and site visitors.

Despite reaching into people’s homes through the internet and the classroom, GREENandSAVE hopes to physically help people in their homes as well, and along with additional strategic partners, Mr. Szoradi has forged a new opportunity for job creation in the “Green Collar” market, specifically for home efficiency consultants. The catalyst for the program came from his personal experience providing home efficiency checkups at home and across the country.

In early 2009, GREENandSAVE is pleased to launch the Green Office sister company that will serve as a free resource for business owners and will include the same level of rigorous research and ROI rankings. Currently Mr. Szoradi is one of the founding members of the Main Line Chamber of Commerce GO GREEN Committee, and he is also scheduled as one of the speakers in 2009.

Results

Original Content Results

Over the course of 2008, GREENandSAVE has generated over 40,000 pages of content, calculator tools and free resources that specifically speak to creating more energy and environmentally efficient homes. In addition to free public access to the resources, the National Association of Realtors and the American Institute of Architects use the content to educate their members, which exceed 1 million.

Monetary Results

In the same period, over 36,000 homeowners have directly engaged with GREENandSAVE to save $100 or more on their utility bills. This translates into over $3.6 million in savings for American homeowners.

Green House Gas Reduction Results

The homeowners that have engaged with GREENandSAVE typically save between 1 and 6 tons of CO2 each year. 36,000 homeowners over 2008 saving an average of 3.5 tons each translates to over 125,000 tons of CO2 reduction. To put it in context, a mid-sized SUV generates approximately 6 tons of CO2 emissions; this is equivalent to taking over 20,000 mid-sized vehicles off the road. Many of the homeowners influenced by GREENandSAVE find additional ways to save money and also reduce emissions.

Annuity Results

Moving forward, most, if not all, of the homeowners will continue the pattern of savings over the next decade, which translates to over $36 million in savings, and 1.25 million tons of CO2 reduction. GREENandSAVE has set in motion a viral marketing program that will continue to attract new homeowners to the free resources each year. This first year could set in motion at least an impact on as many homeowners over each of the subsequent years of the next decade, bringing the total results to $360 million in savings and over 12.5 million tons of CO2 reduction. To put this in context, the average US household produces 27.3 tons of CO2 emissions per year, so these savings produce a major result in the effort to slow the adverse effects of man-made pollution on climate change.

In Home Service Results

In addition to the free online resources, GREENandSAVE has pioneered a “Home Efficiency Checkup” program that connects homeowners directly to “Home Efficiency Consultants” that guide homeowners on the most cost-effective savings. Given the economic recession, GREENandSAVE has created the “Eco Academy” to train individuals on how to become “Home Efficiency Consultants” and earn $1,000 or more per week. This initiative is part of an overall commitment to support the growth of “Green Collar Jobs” with the academy pilot programs in the Philadelphia-area.
